There’s
a million stories in the Naked City, but only a handful of True Noir
themes worth pursuing. My personal favorite theme is the one that
animates my personal favorite Noir, IN A LONELY PLACE (1950); and now,
seventy + years later, it animates our “Film Noir for Your Ears” THE
JUMPER (2Hrs & 29Mins).
About the theme: OG feminist and
scholar Germaine Greer has written, "The muse in her purest aspect is
the feminine part of the male artist, with which he must have
intercourse if he is to bring into being a new work. She is the anima to
his animus, the yin to his yang, except that, in a reversal of gender
roles, she penetrates or inspires him and he gestates and brings forth,
from the womb of the mind."

TONIGHT'S SIGN-OFF SONNET
Sonnet
73 is perhaps the single most popular of all Shakespeare’s poems. It is
certifiably the most anthologized, coming in at number four on The Top
One Hundred Poems in English as compiled by The Concise Columbia Book of
Poetry.
A meditation on mortality, this beautiful
bummer of a sonnet was written when Shakespeare was not yet thirty - but
that was on the Elizabethan scale of life expectancy, do keep in mind.
